Jowell questions whether Anuel and J Quiles were given money for Trump’s endorsement

Puerto Rican urban artist Joel A. Muñoz Martínez, better known as “Jowell,” from the duo Jowell and Randy, took to his social media to allegedly accuse Anuel AA and Justin Quiles of having received money in exchange for their endorsement of the Republican Party’s candidate for the presidency of the United States, Donald Trump.

“How much did they give these guys? $$$,” Jowell wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter), which users quickly interpreted as an innuendo to the endorsement that the two artists gave to Trump.

Last Friday, August 30, Puerto Rican urban artists Justin Rafael Quiles Rivera “Justin Quiles” and Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago “Anuel AA” endorsed the candidacy of the former president of the United States, at a political event that took place in the state of Pennsylvania.

“Thank you Mr. President for having us here, for me it is a blessing to be here. I am from Puerto Rico, we are part of the United States, we depend on the United States. Since Trump has not been in the presidency, in Puerto Rico we have been going through many things as a country and yes, Biden promises and promises… many politicians promise over the years, but we all know that the best president the world has seen is Donald Trump, thank you for having me here. My Puerto Ricans, we are going to vote for Trump, I spoke with him and he wants Puerto Rico to grow and succeed as a country,” said Anuel AA during the political event.

Meanwhile, Quiles said that Trump “is not a puppet” like other politicians and shared a post on the social network Instagram reinforcing his endorsement of the Republican candidate.

The meeting between the urban exponents and Trump has been described as an endorsement of the former president’s candidacy, who will face Vice President Kamala Harris in the November elections, where he will seek to return to the White House.

The relationship between Puerto Rico and Trump has not been the best, since after Hurricane Maria in 2017, the then president threw paper towels at citizens at an event during his visit to the island. The images were classified as in bad taste given the situation the country was experiencing.

In the past, other urban figures have endorsed presidential candidates in the United States, even though Puerto Ricans on the island cannot vote for the president, even though they are American citizens.
