But what is missing for Israel and Hamas Do they officially end the war? The key is in the second phase of negotiations, which must begin immediately after the release of the hostages.

The key themes will be disarmament of Hamas, the future government of Gaza without Hamas, the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops and the path towards the establishment of a Palestinian state.

According to the American portal Axios, Trump promised Hamas not to allow Israel to break the ceasefire in Gaza. The terrorist group had requested that guarantee to accept the first phase of the peace plan.

US officials told Axios that Trump’s guarantee to Hamas was the establishment of a US-led military task force to monitor the ceasefire and address any violations.

Axios maintained that trump was personally involved in the negotiations, and that he made at least three calls to various interlocutors to directly express his guarantees.

At this point, it is worth remembering that the previous ceasefire, which also involved negotiating the end of the war and the withdrawal of troops, was broken unilaterally by Israel in March. That pact had been signed during the last days of the Democratic president’s administration. Joe Biden in the United States.

The plan for the guarantees provides for the transfer of troops from Arab and Muslim countries to areas from which the Israel Defense Forces are withdrawing, Axios noted. The process is expected to last several months.

Hamas’s attitude will be key

The international analyst Francisco Belaunde Matossian he told The Commerce that he Trump’s role has been decisive for the release of the hostages and the ceasefire in Gazadue to the direct pressure it exerts on Benjamin Netanyahu.

He added that this same pressure is going to be key to fulfilling the agreement and preventing Netanyahu resume the war. But he maintained that this pressure will depend on the actions of Hamas.

Trump seems determined to enforce his plan, although he is unpredictable. The issue here is whether Hamas will finally accept the disarmament. So, the pressure that Trump can put on Netanyahu will largely depend on Hamas. If it accepts disarmament and its leaders leave, there would be no excuse to continue the war. Otherwise, we will continue in the same way.”said Belaunde.

The analyst maintained that another objective of trump would be to consolidate his plan for the Middle East and present himself as architect of the end of the wareven without having received the Nobel Peace Prize. He specified that his son-in-law, Jared Kushnerwas key in the methodology of the negotiations, which prioritized a general agreement before details.

Regarding the future of the Gaza government, Belaunde maintained that the refusal to Israel to release Fatah prisoners in exchange for hostagesespecially to Marwan Barghoutiwho could emerge as an alternative Palestinian leader.

The interviewee highlighted that this reflects a paradoxical relationship between Israel and Hamassince while Fatah recognizes the Israeli State, it seeks to release only prisoners who are members of Hamas, which seeks the destruction of that State.

Belaunde warned that the West Bank issue and the creation of the State of Palestine will continue to be decisive. He indicated that if Israel continues with its policy of occupation and violence in that territory, it will be impossible to achieve lasting peace or real mutual recognition.
