Feid and Dimelo Flow: The Crack in the Second Part of ‘The Academy’

2019 marked a milestone in the music scene with the release of ‘The Academy’, the acclaimed album (or EP, as many knew it) from the Rich Music label, under the masterful direction of Dimelo Flow. This project, affectionately nicknamed ‘The Avengers’, brought together prominent artists such as Justin Quiles, Dalex, Sech, Lenny Tavarez and Feid, generating a sonic revolution that left its indelible mark on reggaeton.

However, March 11 brought with it not only the anticipated news of the release of the second part of this successful EP, but also an unexpected topic of conversation: Feid’s absence. The talented Colombian singer, who shone with his own light in the first installment of ‘The Academy’, will not be part of the sequel, disconcerting his followers.

What few comment on is the background of this exclusion. Apparently, there are disagreements between Feid and Dimelo Flow, the album’s main producer. Feid alleges that the producer ‘snatched’ songs from her that he had reserved for her own album, creating a creative conflict that culminated in Feid’s surprising decision not to participate in ‘The Academy 2.’

The narrative of this dispute is subtly revealed in “La Buena Fai”, one of Feid’s last songs, where he reveals frustration: ‘Talking with the cuchos (parents) whole nights, About the rage I got when they stole songs from me ‘They told me to thank God, that it wasn’t worth it and to do another full one…’.

In addition, it was revealed that ‘The Academy 2’ will be released on March 28. Feid’s exclusion from this project not only raises questions about the future of this artistic collaboration, but also sheds light on the complexities and challenges artists face in the music industry, where creative differences can overshadow even the most promising projects. The gap between Feid and Dimelo Flow thus becomes an intriguing chapter in the narrative of reggaeton, reminding us that behind the successes there are untold stories and uninterpreted melodies.
