Equal Beats: the initiative that seeks to open the doors of the music industry to women and non-binary people
Starting a career as a DJ or working in the music industry can be overwhelming, especially for women, female-identifying people, and non-binary people. Aware of this reality, AlphaTheta drives Equal Beatsa global initiative dedicated to promoting inclusion and diversity in the sector. His most recent project: a 7 episode podcast designed to offer tools and a very interesting guide.
A podcast to transform the narrative
As part of this mission, Equal Beats will premiere a seven-episode series hosted by KikelomoDJ and cultural programmer, recorded entirely in London by a team of women. The proposal brings together DJs, managers, agents and communications professionals who will share first-hand experiences, practical advice and honest perspectives on how to enter, develop and grow in the music industry.
Each episode will focus on a key area of the sector, functioning as a kind of accessible, free and knowledge-packed tutorial. The objective is clear: reduce barriers, make diverse voices visible and demonstrate that it is possible to build paths to music from different origins and realities.

A growing initiative
Equal Beats was born in February 2025, when AlphaTheta identified that only 13% of its accounts belonged to people who identified as women. Faced with this gap, the company decided to act: it began to organize events, networking lunches, artistic collaborations and media campaigns aimed at fostering community, overcoming prejudices and bringing resources closer to the new generation of talent.
Since then, Equal Beats has become a living, constantly evolving movement whose purpose is to build a musical environment more equitable and representative.
Speaking about the podcast, Isabel Sugrañes, marketing executive at AlphaTheta, commented: “With Equal Beats, we wanted to make it easier for more people to find their way in the music industry. There are many talented women, people who identify with the female gender and non-binary people who do not know how to take the first step and, Listening to honest advice from established female voices can make a difference. “This podcast is about opening doors, sharing real experiences, inspiring others, and remembering that there is room for everyone in this industry.”
An open and collective path
With this podcast as a new tool, Equal Beats reinforces its commitment to gender equality and community creation. AlphaTheta aims to build an inclusive ecosystem that reflects the true diversity of the music industry, drives collaboration between different identities, and encourages more people to explore DJing.
