Egypt and Qatar are mediating with Israel and the Islamist group Hamas for the release of some 80 hostages, all Israeli civilians, in exchange for a temporary ceasefire and the commitment of the Jewish State to stop attacking health centers, they informed EFE three sources familiar with the status of the process.

An Egyptian security source said on condition of anonymity that a “preliminary agreement” has been reached to release some 80 civilians who will be chosen by Hamas “in exchange for a temporary ceasefire” and that Israel stays “away from health targets, including hospitals.”

For its part, two Palestinian sources in Cairo added that the Islamist group has committed to freeing “Israeli children and elderly people,” some of them with dual nationality, while Hamas also demands the release of Palestinian minors and women in prisons in Israel and the entry of fuel into the Gaza Strip.
