The elected president of the United States, donald trumpelected Republican Brendan Carr, a critic of Big Tech backed by Elon Muskto lead the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and called him a “warrior for free speech” in a statement on Sunday.
Carr has “fought the regulatory legal war that has stifled Americans’ freedoms” and “will end the regulatory onslaught that has crippled America’s job creators and innovators, and ensure the FCC meets the needs of rural America”Trump said in the statement.

Carr said in X that he felt “honored” to take over as chairman of the FCC.
“We must dismantle the censorship cartel and restore free speech rights to ordinary Americans”he wrote in another post.

Carr was already the top Republican on the FCC, an independent agency that regulates television and radio licensing, local Internet pricing and other communications issues.
Carr has built an alliance with billionaire Musk, Trump’s richest backer, whose Starlink satellite internet service could benefit from access to federal funds.
