Daddy Yankee sued Raphy Pina, Mireddys González, Atty. Edwin Prado, Andrés Coll and entities linked to them.

Los Cangris, Inc. and Ramón L. Ayala Rodríguez (Daddy Yankee) filed a lawsuit in Federal Court against Raphy Pina, Mireddys González, Atty. Edwin Prado, Andrés Coll and entities linked to them. The complaint is based on the federal RICO Act and the Puerto Rico Organized Crime Act. It alleges the existence of an organized scheme to illegally appropriate copyrights and divert royalties from musical works by Daddy Yankee and other artists. Part of the evidence is 75 emails of conversations between the defendants.
According to the lawsuit, since 2015, Pina and his associates have manipulated official industry documents, such as split sheets, contracts and copyright records, to fraudulently insert Pina’s name as a co-author of iconic songs. These actions, according to the plaintiffs, resulted in the diversion of millions in royalties and the corruption of the records of the Federal Copyright Office. In addition, they accuse Pina of resorting to intimidation, coercion and acts of violence to maintain control over artists and silence complaints.
Coll acted as Pina’s primary assistant in legitimizing and disseminating the fraudulent publishing claims through communications, knowingly confirming false rights assignments on multiple songs.
Mireddys acted as the company’s administrative coordinator, repeatedly preparing assignments that falsely inflated Pina’s shares and reduced plaintiffs’ holdings. He transmitted the fraudulent records through interstate commerce and deliberately excluding Ayala Rodríguez from communications.
Prado acted as a facilitator for the company by executing agreements and transmitting documents that incorporated Pina’s fraudulent publication claims into binding contracts, giving them the appearance of legal validity. He signed agreements, such as the “Main Title Composition Agreement” and the “Memorandum of Understanding” for the song “Buena Vida (Remake), without authorization from Ayala.
