Karol G, Maluma and Feid are definitely gaining ground in the world of reggaeton, as their songs are sung, danced to and recognized even in the country you would least expect. However, sometimes due to cultural issues, the urban genre has certain difficulties in some places.

One of them is the picturesque town of La Línea de la Concepción, located in the south of Spain: there tradition and modern music collide every year in an unusual way during a special celebration.

The ban on listening to reggaeton and other urban genres in the middle of Domingo Rociero has caused controversy, mainly among fans of the aforementioned paisas singers.

It is worth mentioning that this regulation came into force in 2019, as part of an effort to preserve the sacred character of Domingo Rociero, a celebration dedicated to the Virgin of Rocío.

Thus, this date is celebrated on the first Sunday of the Andalusia Fair (during the weekend of Pentecost Sunday, May 19 in 2024) and aims to maintain an atmosphere of devotion and respect.

During this celebration, people must refrain from listening to reggaeton, rap, rock, electronic music, and only allow for traditional genres such as sevillanas and flamenco.

It is important to note that compliance with this restriction is closely monitored by local authorities, who have even imposed fines of up to 700 euros (more than three million Colombian pesos) for residents caught disobeying the rule.

Despite criticism, this rule remains an immutable part of the annual festivities, reflecting the tension between modernity and customs in this Spanish community.
