Thirteen people died after a fire broke out last night in a school dormitory in the city of Nanyang, in the central Chinese province of Henan, the local press of the Asian country reported today.
The fire broke out on Friday night in Fangcheng county of Nanyang, local authorities reported today, reports the state agency Xinhua.

According to the note, the local fire department received an alert around 11:00 p.m. local time (15:00 GMT) and responded to the Yingcai school dormitory in Yanshanpu village.
It should be noted that firefighters managed to extinguish the flames around 11:38 p.m. local time (3:38 p.m. GMT).

Apart from the thirteen deaths, the fire left one injured who is receiving treatment in a hospital, although there is no fear for his life.
Local authorities began an investigation to clarify the cause of the fire, the agency indicates, and according to the local newspaper Global Times, the school managers have been detained to give statements.
