Pérez Salas was arrested yesterday by agents of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) in the city of Culiacán (Mexico) and that same night he was transferred to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (Femdo) in Mexico City.
The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) offered a reward of 3 million dollars by the criminal, captured in an operation.
He is credited with the strategy of the controversial ‘culiacanazo’, an operation in which federal forces arrested Ovidio Guzmán on October 17, 2019, but released him hours later due to violent acts by the Sinaloa Cartel.

“These arrests are a testament to the commitment between the United States and Mexico to protect our communities from violence, counter cartels, and end the scourge of illicit fentanyl that is affecting so many families,” the president noted.
The United States and Mexico will continue to “work as strong partners” to “do everything possible to hold criminals accountable for endangering health and safety” in the two countries.
““As I told President Andrés Manuel López Obrador when we met in San Francisco on November 17 (within the framework of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, APEC), nothing is out of reach when Mexico and the United States are together,” Biden added.
