Nightlife entrepreneur Santiago Llorens, former director of Pachá in Madrid and Barcelona, leads this project to recover the spirit of freedom and diversity that KU represented, considered the best club in the world in the warehouse that later housed Privilege.
A promoter group has set out to bring the brand back to life KU Ibizathe nightclub that marked a golden age in Ibizan nightlife between 1978 and 1990 in the building that later housed Privilege. The project is led by a renowned nightlife entrepreneur, Santiago Llorenswho was director of Pacha in Madrid and Barcelona, and was also in charge of the emblematic Joy Eslava club in the Spanish capital.
The company led by Santiago Llorens is actively looking for locations in Ibiza with a view to the summer of 2025. There have been talks with hospitality groups on the island and several companies have expressed interest in undertaking the project as a franchise. KU Ibiza would return as a nightclub if a suitable-sized premises were found, but it could also take the form of a restaurant or beach club.
KU was Ibiza’s first large-format nightclub and the echo of its endless nights still resonates on the island. It was founded by three Basque businessmen in 1978 in San Rafael. For more than a decade, the club represented the spirit of freedom, show and transgression that characterized the wild years of Eivissa: no overcrowding, no reserved areas, no private jets, no VIP culture… Democracy and unity on the dance floor.
Throughout the 80s, KU was the vanguard of a new nightlife culture in our country. Visitors from all over Spain and Europe came to this oasis of diversity. Several parties became iconic, such as La Noche Blanca, La Fiesta de Brasil or La Troya. KU was the birthplace of the well-known group Locomía and hosted historic moments, such as the meeting between Montserrat Caballé and Freddie Mercury performing the Barcelona Olympic anthem.

Since 1990 the club was called Privilege and operated for more than 25 years. As is known, the pavilion is currently under construction to house the discotheque [UNVRS]from the same owners as Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza
Various interested groups
The search for Santiago Llorens is focused on Ibiza, but also negotiates with developers from other areaswho see in the prestigious KU brand an opportunity to connect a glorious past with a future project. Among those interested are businessmen from Majorca, Marbella, Tenerife and Madrid. KU already has a franchised nightclub in use of the brand in Benidormand is one of the leading establishments in the Levante area.
With more than 25 years of experience as a nightclub entrepreneur, Llorens has been a franchisee of Pacha with the Pachito nightclubs, in the Olympic Port of Barcelona, and in Terrassa Centro de Ocio, as well as with the Pacha nightclub in Maresme. In Madrid he has been director of Pacha and also of the emblematic Joy Eslava nightclub.
