“Migrants lifted the blockade on a stretch of road in Huixtla, Chiapasand accepted the support of this immigration authority”, the statement detailed.
The migrantsmostly Central Americans and Venezuelans, demanded with these actions that they be granted a permit to be able to travel freely through Mexico.
But INM He explained that the law requires analyzing these requests individually and they cannot be resolved immediately.
Irineo Mujicaa Mexican-American activist who organized the protest, confirmed the agreement to lift the blockade by detailing that some 500 women, children and adolescents have been transferred to shelters while the rest of the caravan will continue on their way at dawn.
The thousands of people without documents left nine days ago from the border city of Tapachula with the intention of reaching the border with the United States to request refuge with the argument that they are escaping violence or poverty in their countries.
Mexico and the United States have recently tightened measures to contain irregular migration.
