The Mexican authorities reported this Friday of the arrest of 26 people, including 21 police officers and a investigative agent, for their alleged criminal association in Chiapas, state of the southern border of Mexico that suffers territorial disputes between drug traffickers.

After nine tracking operations in the municipality of Suchiapa and an inspection of the Municipal Police Barracks, the authorities arrested 21 local police officers and a member of the Ministerial Research and Intelligence Agency (AIIM).
Accusations against these agents include the criminal association and the improper use of decorations, uniforms and official badges.

In addition to the officers, four other individuals identified as Isidro ‘N’ were also captured, aka ‘El Chilo’; Rodrigo ‘N’, aka ‘El Red’; Julio ‘N’, aka ‘El Chinkuy’and Antonio ‘N’, who carried various doses of narcotics, such as marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamines.
The apprehensions were the result of a joint work of the State Attorney General’s Office, the Ministerial Investigation and Intelligence Agency, the immediate reaction force Pakal, the Ministry of Public Security, the National Guard and the Secretariat of National Defense.

The arrest took place after intercepting a vehicle that circulated suspiciously on the Suchiapa road to Tuxtla Gutiérrez, capital of Chiapas, where agents arrested the driver, Reynaldo ‘N’, an operational commander of the AIIM.
These operations happen while the authorities try to contain the violence that has been exacerbated in Chiapas for the struggle between the Sinaloa cartel and the Jalisco Nueva Generación poster, which seek to control drug trafficking and people from Central America.

During the first 100 days of the administration of the Governor of Chiapas, Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar, more than 320 officials have been arrested in the localities of Comitán, Villaflores, Border Comalapa, Bellavista and Villacorzo, most of them close to the border with Guatemala.
