Melodic death metal band from Austin, Texas, HINAYANAwill release his second full album, «Shatter And Fall«, this Friday, November 10 via Napalm Records.

After his recent singles «Reverse The Code” and “Triptych Visions«, HINAYANA has released his third new single, «A Tide Unturning«, with the vocal collaboration of Tuomas Saukkonen of Wolfheart. The track shines as one of the most brutal and pensive metal ballads of 2023, with fluid melodies and deep resonating guitars surrounding the crushing vocals of Saukkonen and the leader Casey Hurd.

In 2018, HINAYANA first caught the masses with his self-released debut, “Order Divine“, and later defied the pandemic with his subsequent 2020 release, the EP “Death Of The Cosmic«. Produced by the leader Casey Hurd and Kevin Butlerwith mastering Dan Swanö in Unisound«Shatter And Fall» features guest contributions from melodic death metal purveyors and labelmates Tuomas Saukkonen of Wolfheart and Vincent Jackson Jones of Aether Realm.

Leader Casey Hurd adds about the album:

«’Shatter And Fall‘ is about karma, one’s destiny, consequences, pain from one’s own actions, depression, loss of faith, yin and yang, light and darkness, and our own immutable nature as humans. It’s darker, heavier and more diverse than our previous releases. We are evolving and expanding our sound to include more catchy and anthemic elements, as well as the darker and heavier material. This new album is an important milestone for HINAYANA«.

The introductory theme «Slowly Light Collides» open the heavy doors of «Shatter And Fall» without hesitation, setting the stage for their impending intensity with a potent mix of head-inducing heaviness and eerie melodies and harmonies. The second theme, “Mind Is A Shadow«, which features the guest voice of Vincent Jackson Jonesfrom the also American melodic death metal leader Aether Realm, hits just as hard with a riff in the verse and a searing chorus. The leader’s deep growls Casey Hurd are effortlessly juxtaposed with the skyscraper screams of Jones before a single Erik Shtaygrud mark the apex of the topic. Hymns like «How Many Dreams«, «The Answer» and the captivating groove machine «Reverse The Code» – the latter with one of the most flourishing passages on the album – delve even further into the icy depths, proving that «Shatter And Fall» is a multifaceted melodeath album.

The powerful “Spirit And Matter» and the somber but essential and shocking «Triptych Visions» feature some of the album’s most melancholic and introspective moments, traversing broad peaks and valleys of deep metallic intensity and some of the album’s most delicate and acoustic moments. The implementation of diverse styles, highlighted by the varied instrumentation and intensity of songs such as the moving interlude «From Our Darkest Moments«, in the face of the massive and crushing sonic saga «Lost To Flame«, prepare the band for undeniable recognition. The single «A Tide Unturning«, with the vocal collaboration of Tuomas Saukkonen of the Finnish icons of melodic death Wolfheartshines like the most desolate summit of «Shatter And Fall“, serving as one of the most brutal yet pensive ballads of 2023. The album ends on the somberest note of all with the blackened closing “Taken«, a re-recorded and revamped look at a track originally released on the band’s 2014 demo «Endless» – marking an apt ending to a contemplative and emotional album that entangles with themes of destiny, pain and inevitable consequences.
