Neither Daddy Yankee, nor Don Omar! For many years there has been a great controversy to recognize the ‘hardest’ figure in Reggaetón. From great musical exponents such as Tego Calderón, Hector ‘El Father’ or duos such as Wisin & Yandel, many have sought to answer this important question, which more than one has debated considering their criteria.

In that sense, what better than Bad Bunny, who is the most important urban representative today and, ‘La Maravilla’ Arcángel, who has stood out for being a symbol of admiration for the powerful words full of wisdom he expresses, to present his decisive answer to the question: Who are the best reggaeton players who have walked the earth? Well, here is their verdict.

On July 28, 2022, during the World’s Hottest Tour, the ‘Bad Rabbit’ performed at the first show he was going to perform at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, better known as the ‘Choli’ of Puerto Rico. Within this show I had as guest artists Jay Cortez, Arcángel, Bomba Estereo and the duo Jowell & Randy.

Suddenly, at one point in this concert, Benito launched into a string of hits like ‘Safaera’, ‘Siente el boom’, ‘El funeral de la canoa’, ‘Tóxicos’, ‘Guayoteo’, ‘Hey mister’ and ‘Trambo’.

It was in that instance that Bad invited Jowell & Randy to the stage to also perform those songs. But before continuing with the show, he paused to exclaim loudly that “three years ago, the people I asked to sing so they could turn that on were called Jowell and Randy.”

Added to this, in all the euphoria of the moment, he pointed out that “like a theory, with which I am going very strong… And I know that tomorrow all the videos are going to come out and all these charros that get hot and come out with balls, to me I don’t mind”.

“For me, if the world ended tomorrow… Duos, trios, solo, groups, choirs… The best reggaeton players in history were Jowell & Randy,” said Bad Bunny, settling a dilemma that was not even on the table, but with the one that overlooked other exponents of the stature of Daddy Yankee and Don Omar.

Faced with this controversial statement that Bad made, highlighting Jowell & Randy among all, Arcángel joined in, and far from disagreeing, he agreed with him absolutely, as well as explained the reasons. This happened during an interview for Molusco TV, where Jorge Pavón asked him for his opinion on the comments of the ‘Tití me asked’ interpreter. To which he was sincere:

“Yeah. The ‘hardest’ reggaetoneros in the history of Reggaetón are them (Jowell & Randy). Because? Because they have never, daddy, Jowell & Randy ever made a trap. In the trap era, they didn’t make any. Full reggaeton, full perreo,” Arcángel explained.

“The only one who has done R&B and stuff is Randy, by himself. But Jowell & Randy don’t f*ck with any other rhythm that isn’t reggaeton. Not because they can’t, because Randy has a very good voice and Jowell is very talented and raps very well on any beat. The thing is that they are not interested (…) If we look at full reggaeton players who have never looked the other way, they are Jowell & Randy,” he stated.

Now that you know the answers and the justification that Arcangel presented to the doubt of the toughest reggaeton players in history, what do you think? Do you agree?
