In a statement on social media, Coal Chamber announced they will not be performing at the Aftershock festival Oct. 10 to 13 in Sacramento.
In the statement, band frontman Dez Fafara cited his current poor health as the reason behind the decision.
“Hello everyone, due to doctors orders and waiting on CT scan results among other test results… Coal Chamber will not be performing at @aftershockfestival,” Fafara wrote. “I thank @dannywimmerpresents, my band and crew and supporters of Coal Chamber for being understanding during this very difficult time for myself & family.”
The rest of the band also weighed in as part of the statement, expressing their support for Fafara and his family and promising to return for their March 2025 tour.
“It goes without saying that we are heartbroken that we won’t be joining Aftershock with all of our fans, family, and friends,” the three musicians stated. “Our brother’s health and making a full recovery is absolutely the #1 priority so we can be firing on all cylinders for our tour in March! “We thank you for the patience, and joining us in supporting the Fafara family while Dez recovers.”
Coal Chamber had previously postponed their “Fiend For The Fans” spring tour featuring Fear Factory, Twiztid, Wednesday 13 and Black Satellite, also because of concerns for Fafara’s health.
An August 16 statement Fafara provided Loudwire announced the postponement and detailed the return of failing health after his initial recovery from long Covid.
“We will see you in March 2025 on the Fiend For The Fans Tour,” Fafara stated. “This tour postponement is surreal, I was looking forward to playing with my band and connecting with fans, friends and family on the road.”
