Daddy Yankee Breaks the Silence: Testimony and Spiritual Transformation

After his retirement from the stage, the urban music icon, Daddy Yankee, made a surprising and significant appearance in the public eye by sharing, for the first time, his moving testimony with the members of the church “Refugiados En Su Presencia” in Puerto Rico.

“Thank you for inviting me to the house of the Lord. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity,” Daddy Yankee expressed with gratitude at the beginning of his speech. The artist, recognized for hits like “Gasolina” and “Dura,” excitedly revealed his enthusiasm for addressing a message outside his usual church, thus breaking the ice with the congregation present. “It’s the first time I’m going to give a message outside of my church, so I’m breaking the ice with you. “This is going to set a very nice precedent because it is the first time I go out, so I am a little nervous because it is the first time I leave the church,” he shared.

During his inspiring intervention, Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, original name of Daddy Yankee, began his testimony by reading the verse from 2 Corinthians 5:17: “So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things passed away. Behold, all are made new.” He immediately proclaimed, “I am a new creature in the name of the Lord, like all of you who are here.”

Ayala reflected on his spiritual journey, recognizing divine mercy in his life. “There were people like me who didn’t have that opportunity. I didn’t have that privilege, but God had mercy on me,” he shared. He lamented how pride kept him from the path of the Lord, recognizing that that same pride was broken by a health problem, teaching him to depend on faith.

The artist also highlighted the importance of his wife’s faith, born in the gospel, in his spiritual restoration. He revealed how success in the world could not fill the spiritual void caused by her alienation from God. “God made us in his image and likeness, he trained us, he gave us talents and abilities that you can go far without. And if you don’t believe me, I have a clear example: the Tower of Babel,” he shared.

Daddy Yankee concluded his speech by emphasizing the importance of words of affirmation and daily gratitude. He highlighted that a grateful mind counteracts anxiety and promotes a free and happy life. He expressed his gratitude for all that he has and for having accepted the Lord as his only Savior, thus closing a revealing chapter of his spiritual journey with the present congregation.
