Is it too early to declare this year’s Valentine’s Day anthem?

Four Tethas released “Loved,” a warming new single released on his very own Text Records. The influential electronic music legendary producer confirmed on social media that it’s the opening track from hisupcoming 12th album, which will be his first in four years. He has not announced the title or release date of his upcoming album but said it will be released “soon.”

Like a placid terrain right before a thunderstorm, the track opens with isolated drums before introducing gentle tones into the fray. In tried-and-true Four Tet fashion, enchanting plucks take center stage, filling the warm, heavy air with vibrant streaks of color. Halfway through, a fuzzy vinyl crackle drones in the midst as melancholic keys serenade us into the track’s haunting coda.
